In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin and oregano. Pour half the marinade into a large bowl or dish, add the chicken, and turn to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes. Cover and refrigerate the remaining marinade.

In a large skillet, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Sauté the onion for 2-3 minutes until crisp-tender.

Drain the chicken, discarding the marinade. Add the chicken to the skillet and stir-fry until the meat is no longer pink. Add the red pepper, chiles, and the reserved marinade; cook for 2 minutes or until heated through. Stir in the toasted almonds. Serve the chicken mixture immediately over the shredded lettuce, and top with the tomato wedges and avocado slices.
