Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar; beat in the vanilla. Stir in the all-purpose flour until well combined. Press the dough onto the bottom and 1 inch up the sides of a 6-inch springform pan coated with cooking spray.

In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, beaten egg, and vanilla until smooth. Pour the cream cheese filling over the prepared crust. In another bowl, toss the thinly sliced peeled tart apples with the sugar and cinnamon. Arrange the seasoned apple slices over the cream cheese filling. Sprinkle the slivered almonds over the top.
