Baked Bread Pudding Pie
This homemade bread pudding pie features a buttery, flaky crust filled with a rich, custardy bread pudding made with cubed bread, eggs, milk, sugar, and warm spices like nutmeg.
Instructions
-
1
Preheat oven to 425°F. On a lightly floured surface, roll the pie dough into a 1/8-inch thick circle and transfer it to a 9-inch pie plate. Trim the crust to 1/2 inch beyond the rim of the plate and flute the edge.
-
2
Arrange the cubed bread in the bottom of the prepared pie crust. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Pour the custard mixture over the bread, then sprinkle with the nutmeg and dot with the butter.
-
3
Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 350°F. Bake for an additional 45-50 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cover the edge of the crust loosely with foil during the last 15 minutes if needed to prevent overbrowning.

4
Remove the foil and allow the pie to cool on a wire rack for 1 hour. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.
