    Preheat oven to 400°F. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and strawberry jam until well blended. Fold in the whipped cream and, if desired, food coloring. Refrigerate the filling until ready to assemble.

    In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, and salt. Stir in the egg whites and vanilla until smooth. Whisk in the melted and cooled butter until well combined. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

    Working in batches of 4 cookies at a time, drop the batter by 1-1/2 teaspoon portions onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 4 inches apart. Bake for 5-8 minutes, until the edges are lightly browned.
