Homemade Blueberry Preserves with Warm Spices
This homemade blueberry preserve is a delightful balance of sweet, juicy blueberries and warm spices like cinnamon and cloves. The thick, spreadable texture makes it perfect for topping waffles, pancakes, or enjoying on its own.
Instructions
-
1
In a large saucepan, combine all the ingredients. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 15-18 minutes, stirring frequently, until the preserves have thickened.
-
2
Remove the saucepan from the heat and skim off any foam. Ladle the hot preserves into three hot, sterilized half-pint jars, leaving a 1/4-inch headspace. Remove any air bubbles and adjust the headspace if necessary by adding more hot preserves. Wipe the rims of the jars clean.
-
3
Center the lids on the jars and screw on the bands until they are finger-tight. Place the jars in a canner with simmering water, ensuring they are completely submerged. Bring the water to a boil and process the jars for 5 minutes. Carefully remove the jars and allow them to cool completely.
