Homemade Cheeseburger Buns with Seasoned Beef Filling
Soft, homemade yeast rolls are stuffed with a savory mixture of seasoned ground beef, tomato sauce, and melted cheese for a deliciously satisfying and easy-to-make lunch or dinner option.
Instructions
-
1
Dissolve the yeast in warm water, then add the warm milk, sugar, shortening, egg, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Beat until smooth. Gradually stir in the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
-
2
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 4-6 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
-
3
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain the excess fat, then stir in the tomato sauce. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
4
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 16 pieces. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll and stretch each piece into a 5-inch circle. Top each circle with two pieces of cheese and about 3 tablespoons of the beef mixture. Bring the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.

5
Place the filled buns seam-side down on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 20 minutes. Bake at 400°F for 8-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.
