In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook until tender, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute longer. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a large bowl, combine 1/4 cup of the marinara sauce, the chopped mozzarella, bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the ground chicken and mix gently until well combined. Form the mixture into four 1/2-inch thick patties.

In the same skillet, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Cook the burgers until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F, about 4-5 minutes per side. Top the burgers with the sliced mozzarella cheese and cook, covered, until the cheese is melted, about 1-2 minutes.
