In a heavy saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reaches 290°F on a candy thermometer (soft-crack stage).

Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture over 1 cup of the chopped almonds and 1 cup of the chopped milk chocolate in a greased 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Sprinkle the remaining almonds and chocolate over the top. Refrigerate until set, then break into pieces.
