Grilled Barbecue Chicken Wings

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large saucepan, sauté the onion in oil until tender. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in the ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, cayenne, and cumin. Simmer, uncovered, for 8-10 minutes, stirring often. Remove from heat and stir in the hot pepper sauce. Set aside 2/3 cup of the barbecue sauce for serving.

  2. 2

In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken wings in batches and turn to coat.

  3. 3

Lightly oil the grill grates. Grill the wings over medium heat or broil 4 inches from the heat for 12-16 minutes, turning occasionally. Brush with some of the barbecue sauce.

  4. 4

Continue grilling, uncovered, for 8-10 minutes longer or until the juices run clear, basting and turning several times. Serve with the reserved barbecue sauce.
