Preheat the broiler. Place the steak on a broiler pan and sprinkle with pepper.

Broil the steak 4 inches from the heat for 7 minutes. Meanwhile, mix the balsamic vinegar and steak sauce.

Flip the steak and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of the vinegar mixture. Broil until the steak reaches the desired doneness (135°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium, 145°F for medium-well), 4-6 minutes.

Remove the steak to a cutting board and let it stand for 5 minutes. Slice the steak into 1/4-inch thick pieces and return them to the broiler pan, arranging the slices close together. Drizzle the remaining vinegar mixture over the steak slices and top with the Swiss cheese. Broil just until the cheese is melted, 30-60 seconds.
